Housing Lottery

Preparing for Lottery Night

If you've paid your housing deposit by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, you'll be randomly assigned a "lottery" number based on your class standing. Each class will have a designated date and time to participate in the Housing Lottery where you'll select a residence hall room for the 2020-2021 Academic Year. Floor plans will be available to review before you select your room.

This year's Housing Lottery will take place on Tuesday, April 14, 2020; Wednesday, April 15, 2020; and Thursday, April 16, 2020.

Preparing for Lottery Night

Additional information to prepare you for a successful Housing Lottery:

  • Helpful Tips
    • Find a roommate (or roommates) before lottery night.
      • At lottery night, you and your roommate(s) will select a room at the time of the lowest number in your group. For example, if you’re number 399 and your roommate is 278, then you’ll both go when number 278 is called.
      • If you don’t have a roommate and select a multiple-occupancy room during Housing Lottery, a roommate will be assigned to you.
    • Attend the Open Houses to see where you would like to live.
    • Come prepared with at least six potential choices in various buildings.
    • Be flexible and realistic because not everyone will be able to get their first choice.
    • Keep in mind that single rooms are limited and are often taken by upperclassmen.

The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there is an error in the application.

  • Housing Deposits

In order to participate in the Housing Lottery, any outstanding balance on your student account must be cleared and the $300 non-refundable housing deposit must be paid by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.  Housing deposits will only be accepted in the form of a credit card or through the router number of your check using the online deposit form (link e-mailed to all students).

If you cannot afford the housing deposit, Residence Life suggests that you speak with a representative from the Financial Aid Office as soon as possible. Deposit waivers are available at Financial Aid; however, there are strict criteria followed in order to qualify for the waiver.

  • Room, Meal Plan, & Health Services Contract

You’ll be required to sign a 2020–2021 Room, Meal Plan & Health Services Contract during the Housing Lottery. If you’re not present at the Housing Lottery but have a Proxy select on your behalf, you’ll need to sign the contract before your room assignment is confirmed. This contract is a binding agreement between the resident and the university that extends throughout the entire 2020–2021 Academic Year. You’ll be responsible for full payment.
